    Andalas University (Unand) is a university that has its own dormitory. To shape the character of its students, Unand  make the program mandatory to stay in the hostel for a year for new students who pass through SNMPTN and scholarships from Bidik Misi.

    Life in dormitory is very nice because it has a positive impact on the students like there are many program like religious programs and sports, etc. All it can have a positive impact for students.

    Likewise with the Public Building ( wisma) at Andalas University who also have regulations and programs, although not as strong as the rules in the dormitory.

     In the dormitory, Moslem Students who are required to be able to  Fajr prayer in the mosque or Masjid, and also other prayers together in the mosque (mushola) . After the Fajr prayer in the mosque, then the next activity is hearing religious lectures. The lecturer is the coach of dormitory or builder dormitory , boarder, and officials from the Andalas University. Special to the dorms officials are held every wednesday. As well as the maghrib time at the hostel after evening prayers were also held activities to listen to religious lectures.

     Usually after Fajr prayer, the students organize activities such as reading the Al-Qur'an, study, and there is also a sleep again. From morning until noon, the students usually go to the campus, for students who have free time and no college prefer to study, create assignments, watching movies, chatting with friends, etc.

   At night, students usually learn, make assignments, watching a movie, listening to music, playing games. chatting with roommates and neighbors etc. There are students who make the task until late at night, and there are also students who do not sleep at night.

      Builder of dormitory of Andalas University also expresses appreciation to students who diligently  Fajr prayer, by giving him books. Another interesting thing is the free national seminar devoted to the student dormitory at the seminar which was facilitated by the food, the certificate and also get pocket money.

        The atmosphere in the dormitory is set by the builder dormitory into an atmosphere that is familial. If there are students from the dorms were affected by the disease, the builder dormitory will interfere with delivering to the clinic and also the builder of the dormitory also provides a variety of medications to students affected by the disease. Builder of dormitory  also states that if there are students who have financial problems with the builder dormitory is ready to help.

      Another unique thing of the condition of the hostel is usually a neighbor who ran out of rice or water will ask for rice or water to other neighbors. It is common because of course, we live in a society and as social beings we certainly need each other.

      Andalas University dorm also has a maid hygiene mopping the floors, the bathroom, the sink in the morning. So the problem of cleanliness in the dorms do not have to worry about although of course, we also had to keep clean. Builder of dormitory also held the "gotong-royong" or mutual cooperation or community self-help on the weekend  at a specific time.

Dormitory of  University of Andalas provides wi-fi or internet free of charge, so that those of us who need the internet in the task will feel greatly helped. So no wonder many students are sitting around the dormitory's floor with playing laptop or HP.

In addition, in dormitory also held various competitions or activities such as memorizing the Qur'an, Al-qu'an reading, speech, chess, futsal, etc. Of course, It can develop the talents of students. So staying at the dormitory has various advantages.
